\u201cWhen I first started, I was scared,\u201d Kavita Sindhwi admits. \u201cMany of the clients were withdrawn, angry, or suspicious. But once I began listening \u2014 really listening \u2014 I realised that behind every needle, there\u2019s pain, trauma, and a story waiting to heal.\u201d<\/strong>
Through consistent counselling, awareness sessions, and one-on-one trust-building, Kavita Sindhwi and her team have helped many users take the first small steps toward recovery \u2014 connecting them to medical support, HIV testing, and rehabilitation programs.
She recalls one case vividly \u2014 a young man named Ramesh ( name changed), barely 22, who had lost his family\u2019s trust and his own will to live.
\u201cWhen I met him, he said, \u2018Didi, no one wants to touch my hand, everyone thinks I\u2019m dirty.\u2019 That broke me.\u201d<\/strong>
Over months of counselling and constant encouragement, Ramesh began participating in group sessions and slowly reduced his usage. Today, he\u2019s enrolled in a vocational training course and volunteers to talk to others about safe practices and recovery.
\u201cHe once told me, \u2018You didn\u2019t give up on me when I had given up on myself.\u2019 That\u2019s what keeps me going.\u201d
For Kavita Sindhwi, counselling is more than just a profession \u2014 it\u2019s an act of compassion in a space where judgment is common but empathy is rare.

Each Nutrition Kit contained simple yet essential items \u2014 energy drink, fortified flour, fruits, nutrients and iron rich supplements \u2014 helping families ensure that their children received the nourishment they needed.
\u201cMy mother was so happy,\u201d Meena recalls. \u201cShe said, now I don\u2019t have to worry that my child is going to school without eating.\u201d<\/strong>
Within a few weeks, Meena began to feel stronger and more energetic.
\u201cAfter eating regularly, I don\u2019t miss school anymore. I can concentrate in class and even play with my friends again. My teacher says I look more confident now,\u201d she shares proudly.<\/strong>
